Kelly Clarkson has taken a stance on Dr. Luke amid the controversy and legal drama regarding Kesha, saying she was essentially forced by her label to work with him despite her wishes against it.
The “Piece by Piece” singer stopped by Australia’s KIIS 106.5 Kyle and Jackie O radio show and commended Dr. Luke for being a talented producer, but that’s where the compliments stopped.
“He’s a talented dude but he’s just lied a lot,” Clarkson, who has spoken out in the past about her difficulties working with him on her song “Since U Been Gone," said. "When so many artists don't like you, that says something," she also said.
“He’s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning, it’s kind of unfortunate,” she added. “Obviously the dude is a talented guy but character-wise, no," saying she only worked with him "because literally I got blackmailed by my label. They were like we will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”
Clarkson went on to say that they “clashed” working together and called his character “poor,” but wouldn’t elaborate on how she feels about Kesha’s accusations that he drugged and raped her.
“Her fans are like, ‘Why aren’t you standing up for her?’ and I’m like, ‘Well, I wasn’t there.’ I don’t know specifically what happened in their situation,” she said. “Obviously I wasn’t there in the room. I can remark on his character.”
