Anna Torv, who starred on Fox’s cult sci-fi series Fringe, has signed on to star in Mind Hunter, a new Netflix series director David Fincher and Charlize Theron are working on.

News of Mind Hunter first surfaced in December. The project is based on Jack Douglas and Mark Olshaker’s 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, which follows Douglas’ investigation of several serial killer cases. Jonathan Groff (Looking) will star as a special agent.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Torv will star as a psychologist named Wendy.

Mind Hunter was originally developed by Fox 21 for HBO. Theron and Fincher are executive producers and The Road’s Joe Penhall is writing.. Considering that Fincher has dealt with serial killers and other crimes in films like Se7en and Zodiac, this project sounds perfect for him.

Torv was supposed to return to television in Open, a drama from Ryan Murphy that co-starred Jennifer Jason Leigh. However, HBO decided to pass on it, even though they worked with Murphy on The Normal Heart.

The actress played Olivia Dunham on Fringe from 2008 to 2013. After that, she returned to her native Australia to star in Deadline Gallipoli and Secret City.
