Thanks to a request by the media, the autopsy report for Bobbi Kristina Brown will be made public after a judge’s order on Thursday.
Fulton County, Georgia Superior Court Judge Henry M. Newkirk approved a request by WXIA-TV to have the seal lifted, citing the Open Meetings and Open Records Act.
On Sept. 28, 2015, the court ordered the documents, including toxicology reports and the death certificate, sealed. WXIA-TV’s motion claimed that the seal violated the First Amendment because it was ordered without any hearings or public notice.
The State argued against lifting the seal, claiming that the investigation into Bobbi Kristina’s death is still open. Newkirk said that the state still hasn’t filed charges against anyone and has had months to do so.
The State prosecutor said that its investigation should be completed soon, but there is still “sensitive information” in the documents that could hurt the investigation.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was the only daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. She died in July 2015 at age 22. She was discovered unconscious in her bathtub in January 2015 and was in a coma until her death. Her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her boyfriend, Nick Gordon.
