While the family of Bobbi Kristina Brown did not want the autopsy report released, her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, reportedly feels vindicated by it. He is facing a wrongful death lawsuit from the family, although he has not been charged with a crime.
Earlier today, the Fulton County, Georgia medical examiner’s office said that the official cause of death was being immersed in water and drug intoxication. Among the drugs found in her system were a substance related to cocaine, anxiety medication, morphine and alcohol, according to the toxicology report.
Brown’s father, singer Bobby Brown, was not happy about the public release of the report before the investigation into what led to her death was completed. The family believes that Gordon had something to do with it and filed a $10 million lawsuit against him.
In his first response to the autopsy release, Gordon told The Daily Mail, “I’m glad that s**t is all over.” He added, “I just want to wish my girl a Happy Birthday. I can't say any more but it's good.”
Gordon’s attorneys told TMZ that the autopsy report shows that Brown was suffering from a drug addiction and that her cause of death couldn’t be blamed on him. The legal team also told the site that they were not happy about the report being kept under a seal for so long because it allowed a negative perception of him to continue.
A source told People that the report does contradict some of the claims in the Brown family’s suit against Gordon. Her family claimed that Gordon “injected her with a toxic mixture” and that she died after an altercation. Gordon has denied that.
Brown was 22 at the time of her death in July 2015 after being in a coma for months. She was the only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston.
