By now you’ve heard about the twitter feuds that occurred after Kim Kardashian posted another naked selfie last week. One of the celebrities who commented on the reality star’s pic was Chloë Grace Moretz and now the actress is explaining why she felt compelled to speak out about the photo.
During an interview with Elle magazine, Moretz, who describes herself as a feminist, talked about her initial remarks and holding her ground after Kardashian fired back at her.
“All I’ll say is that I think a lot of things can be misconstrued in a lot of ways,” she said. “And I think if people open their minds more, and they try to look deeper into something than just something that is a very big, hot, fiery button to hide behind… I think if people looked into something bigger that I was trying to speak upon, they wouldn’t be so easy to fire back silly, miscellaneous things."
For those who need to be caught up to speed, the Twitter war of words between these two started after Mortez reacted to Kardashian’s selfie by tweeting, “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.”
Kardashian then tweeted back to the 19-year-old, writing, “let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo.”
To which Mortez responded, “There’s a huge difference in respecting the platform that you’re given as a celebrity and ‘slut shaming’ something I never have done and would never do.”
