Late night talk show hosts Conan O’Brien and Seth Meyers paid tribute to Garry Shandling after news broke Thursday that he passed away at the age of 66.

During his opening monologue, O’Brien shared with his audience some of his fondest memories he had of the late comedian.

He talked about when he was at a low point how it was Shandling who lifted his spirits.

"During a particularly difficult time in my life, as fate would have it, Garry just magically appeared—this is true—and he helped me a lot, and that is what I've been thinking about these last couple of hours.”

O’Brien then relayed a story about how he went to Hawaii that week and Shandling called him and said, 'Conan, it's Garry. I'm staying three doors down. We're on an island. There's no avoiding me.'"

He wrapped up the monologue by saying, “I love you, Garry. I miss you,” before going to commercial.

Over on NBC, Late Night host Seth Meyers also spoke about Shandling. He called The Larry Sanders Show “groundbreaking” and asked that people go back and watch it.

“I just recommend everybody go back and watch that show. If there's any good that can come out of it, it would be the rediscovery of what truly was a classic. Give it up for Garry, Shandling."

As we previously reported, Shandling had a medical emergency on March 24 and was taken to a Los Angeles hospital where he passed away.
