The Miami Dolphins acquired linebacker Kiko Alonso and cornerback Byron Maxwell in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.

According to NFL.com, the Eagles will get undisclosed draft picks from the Dolphins in the trade. The deal is pending physicals for Maxwell and Alonso, who has knee issues. Maxwell signed a six-year, $63 million contract with the Eagles last year. He is due $8.5 million this year and $10.5 million in 2017, with $3 million guaranteed.

The Eagles will have to pick up a portion of Maxwell’s salary, Fox Sports reports.

Alonso was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2013. The Eagles acquired him in March in a trade for LeSean McCoy. He had one interception and a career-low 43 tackles in 11 games last year, while Maxwell had two interceptions and 64 tackles, according to ESPN.

The trade results in the Eagles having no depth at the cornerback position, as Nolan Carter is scheduled to become a free agent. Cornerback Brent Grimes' future with the Dolphins is now in question with the addition of Maxwell. The Dolphins will save $6.5 million in cap space if they part ways with Grimes, the Associated Press notes.

The trade can’t be finalized until Wednesday when the new NFL year begins.
