Donald Trump will not attend this weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington D.C. Instead, he plans to stay on the campaign trail.
Organizers for CPAC said on Twitter that they were disappointed in Trump’s decision, adding that “his choice sends a clear message to conservatives.”
The Trump campaign said that the billionaire businessman will instead be in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday. He will then head to Orlando, Florida for an event there on Sunday.
“Because of this, he will not be able to speak at CPAC, as he has done for many consecutive years,” the campaign said. “Mr. Trump would like to thank Matt Schlapp and all of the executives at CPAC and looks forward to returning to next year, hopefully as President of the United States.”
While Trump will not speak at CPAC, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich - who are all competing against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination - will be there. Former candidate Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson are also scheduled to speak.
Trump’s decision comes after winning seven states on Super Tuesday.
