Even as the show drives through Batman’s rogues gallery faster than a speeding bullet, Gotham will get a third season. Fox announced the pick-up on March 16.
Gotham is run by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) and is set in a Gotham City just before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman. Ben McKenzie is the star of the show as young Jim Gordon, long before he becomes commissioner. David Mazouz, Cory Michael Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, Donal Logue, Morena Baccarin and Michael Chiklis also star.
“It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny [Cannon] and John [Stephens] have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama,” Fox Entertainment President David Madden. “This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”
Gotham is currently in the second half of its second season, dubbed “Wrath of the Villains.” Seeing as the show is moving so fast, it might run out of villains from the Batman books before it even gets to season three.
