Frank Sinatra's son, Frank Sinatra Jr., died of a heart attack on Wednesday, March 16, as announced by the Sinatra family.

The Sinatra family gave a statement to The Associated Press about the death. They said that Sinatra was on tour in Daytona Beach, Florida when he went into cardiac arrest.

Sinatra was 72 years old and a father, son, uncle, brother and friend to loved ones who all mourn his unexpected death.

Sinatra was expected to perform at The Peabody in Daytona Beach at 7:30pm the night of his death for his 2016 tour, Sinatra Sings Sinatra, The Centennial Celebration.

Frank Sinatra Jr., son to one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, has become known for his own music career. Sinatra Jr. worked for his legendary father as a conductor and a musical director and then went on to have his own singing and songwriting career.

Sinatra left behind his 98-year-old mother, Nancy Barbato, sisters; Nancy and Tina and son; Michael.
