On the last episode of Gotham, Jim is adjusting to his daily routine inside Blackgate Prison, going through the motions and looking at a picture of Leslie every night. He meets Warden Grey, who tells him that he is being removed from protective custody and admitted into the general population inside F-Wing, nicknamed “World’s End.” Jim enters with many criminals giving him dirty looks.
Meanwhile, Oswald is having a nice dinner with the Van Dahl family. They discuss the “ghosts” in the house and Elijah shares how he met his wife, Grace. Elijah mentions that Oswald is his only true blood relative. The rest of the family has a tense and uncomfortable look on their faces. Oswald and Elijah talk privately, Elijah feeling guilty for abandoning his son. Grace eavesdrops on the conversation and brings Elijah his heart medicine. She walks away and we see that she is actually giving him peppermints instead.
Bullock is on the phone trying to get someone to help him. He grabs Edward as he walks by and tells him he is 100% sure that Jim is innocent. Edward seems very pleased over the master scheme that he is completely behind.
Jim observes life inside F-Wing. Warden Grey whispers to an inmate that he wants Jim dead by the end of the week. Jim receives a visit from Bullock, who tells him that Harvey Dent is looking to reopen the case. He also delivers some heartbreaking news to Jim: Leslie lost the baby. She apparently has moved south and stopped writing to Jim. This hits Jim hard. Bullock tells Jim to not let this break him and that he will get Jim out of prison.
Oswald has terrible nightmares over the things he has done. He wakes up and finds his father sleepwalking towards his office. Elijah tells Oswald about his heart condition; he has a hole in his heart. They discuss the demons they both have. Elijah tells Oswald he forgives him for all his past crimes and they have a new life together.
Jim has a run-in with an inmate who attacks him. He hits Jim and another inmate defends him. While Jim receives treatment in the infirmary, he meets an inmate named Puck. Puck remembers that Jim saved his younger sister years ago and calls Jim a hero. Puck doesn’t want to die in prison like his father did. Jim warns Puck to stay away from him. Warden Grey tells the officers to keep an eye on Jim. Jim confronts Grey and tells him he knows what kind of man he is.
Oswald and Elijah are playing gin when Grace and his stepbrother, Charles and stepsister, Sasha, confront them. Charles found a newspaper showing Oswald as the crime lord, Penguin. Grace is against Oswald staying there, but Elijah defends him, saying he has seen his son’s soul. Oswald promises that he is a changed man. Grace and the children walk away, with Grace telling Sasha she is “plan B.”
Plan B begins with Oswald waking up to Sasha trying to seduce him, but he immediately rejects her. She then tells Grace he didn’t take the bait and appears to be very simple. Later, Elijah is tailoring a suit for Oswald when he starts violently coughing and passes out. He screams for help.
Jim is sitting alone and is told by an officer that inmate Weaver is coming back to F-Wing. He's pinned down and forced to watch inmates brutally beat up Puck. Warden Grey observes this and Jim stares him down.
Bullock is desperate to find out who set up Jim. He has nobody else to turn to. We find out that he is having a meeting with Carmine Falcone.
Jim is working in the laundry room when he is told that Puck is in bad shape and that he wants to see Jim. Jim visits Puck, who tells him not to give up hope. He tells Jim to choose life. Jim again warns Puck to stay away from him so he can keep himself safe. The officer then warns Jim about movie night, telling Jim to be ready.
The hole in Elijah's heart was infected and the doctor tells them he might not have long to live. Elijah promises Oswald he will overcome this and they have many years left together. Elijah tells Grace he would like to speak to his lawyer. Grace tells the kids that Oswald is going to end up with everything. They discuss that Oswald needs to go. Oswald joins them for dinner and it seems that the rest of the Van Dahl family has some evil intentions for Oswald.
It is movie night at Blackgate. Jim walks in looking very cautious, Weaver lurking in the background. He sits behind Jim, pulls out a knife and lunges at him. A riot breaks out and we see an inmate grab the knife and stab Jim repeatedly. He lies on the floor, bleeding out. The officer tells Warden Grey they need a body bag. They are wheeling out Jim’s body when he wakes up outside an ambulance and we see Bullock, breaking Jim out of prison. Jim wants to rescue Puck. He goes to get Puck, but is cut off by Warden Grey. He draws a gun, but is knocked out by the officer helping Jim. Jim makes it look convincing by knocking out the officer.
Oswald and Elijah are having their usual after-dinner conversation and Grace serves them their drinks. Oswald pours one and holds it. Elijah tells Oswald that his father wasn’t physically ill, but battled dark impulses of evil thoughts and violence. He fears Oswald has the same urges and begs Oswald to not give in to them. Elijah then takes the drink from Oswald and drinks it. He tells Oswald he wants to leave him everything. He then clutches his chest and starts foaming at the mouth. He screams for help while Grace tells the kids to call an ambulance. It appears that they have poisoned Elijah.
