Harry Styles has reportedly been offered a role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming World War II drama Dunkirk. Yes, that Harry Styles.
According to Deadline, the One Direction singer is in talks for Nolan's newest movie, although he would evidently not be playing a leading role. It's a bizarre rumor considering Styles has never acted in a film before, although he reportedly turned down a part in the upcoming movie Tulip Fever. The report claims that Styles impressed Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas with his audition for Dunkirk.
Styles wouldn't be the only inexperienced actor to be joining the project. Fionn Whitehead will also be starring in Dunkirk, playing one of two young lead characters, Variety reports. This would be Whitehead's first movie role. The two join Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh in the film.
This casting news would make sense, as we heard when the project was first announced that Nolan wanted to pick unknown actors, according to Variety.
Dunkirk tells the story of the 1940 British evacuation of the French city of Dunkirk. Nolan also wrote the screenplay. He is expected to begin shooting in May using 65mm film. This will be Nolan's first project since the 2014 science fiction epic Interstellar and it will also be the director's first story to be based on a true historical event. He will shoot the film at many of the real-life locations.
Dunkirk hits theaters on July 21, 2017.
