J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is headed to theaters later this year and the author will be prefacing it with a series of short stories.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Rowling will be premiering four original stories called The History of Magic in North America, setting the stage for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The topics of these shorts will include Ilvermorny (America's version of Hogwarts known), the Native American legend of Skin-walkers, the Salem witch trials and the Magical Congress of the United States of America.
All four stories will appear on Pottermore, Rowling's interactive website where she has previously expanded on bits of the story not explained in the Harry Potter novels.
This year is shaping up to be a great one for Harry Potter fans. In addition to the upcoming stories, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a play taking place after the events of Deathly Hallows, will make its debut and the script is being published, as well, as we previously reported. Then in terms of movies, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a prequel set in 1920s New York, will be released in November.
The first History of Magic in North America story will debut on Pottermore tomorrow.
