ABC has the Primetime Emmys this year, which means that there is only one possible comedian who can host: Jimmy Kimmel.
The host of ABC’s only late night talkshow will host the Emmys for a second time. He also hosted the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012, which was the last time ABC had the awards show.
“Jimmy Kimmel is the consummate showman,” new ABC president Channing Dungey said in a statement today. "With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder, and better-than-ever Emmy event.”
“I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again. I have a feeling I’m going to be great,” Kimmel joked.
Kimmel hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which has earned five Emmy nominations during its 14 seasons.
The Emmy host network usually uses the opportunity to promote its own talent. Last year’s show on Fox was hosted by Andy Samberg, the star of Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards are on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. The nominations are announced on Thursday, July 14 and the Creative Arts Emmy Awards are set for Sept. 10 and 11.
