Now that John Oliver has finally embraced talking about Donald Trump, no part of the Republican frontrunner’s ideas is off limits. On this weekend’s Last Week Tonight, Oliver took aim at Trump’s often repeated plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Oliver decided to look at the idea seriously, since it is one of Trump’s few serious proposals that have lasted the entirety of his campaign without changes. The comedian did note that Trump hasn’t set a fixed price yet. Trump first said it was going to be $4 billion, but now says it could be as much as $12 billion.
Trump has also said that Mexico would pay for the wall and would be happy to do so. But, as Oliver pointed out, that’s not the case at all. When hearing Mexican politicians blast the idea, Trump added 10 feet to the wall’s height.
Oliver opened the floodgates on Trump late last month when he declared that he wanted to “Make donald Drumpf Again” after noting that Trump’s original family name was “Drumpf.”
