To all those Veep fans who simply cannot wait until Sunday night to see the season 5 trailer: Julia Louis-Dreyfus has got your back.
On March 18, the actress posted a sneak peek of the trailer for season 5 of the series, which returns to HBO on April 24, to her Instagram account. Though brief, the clip shows her character, Selina Meyer, tackling everything from a tied election to kayaking disappointments, even appearing to support the nation's troops along the way (which seems quite fitting for Louis-Dreyfus, who, according to Deadline, recently signed on to produce a mini-series about female soldiers for HBO).
One of the biggest praises of Veep is the sometimes absurd mirror that it holds up to the US political system and with Selina Meyer taking over as the first female president back in Season 3 - long before Hillary Clinton's presidential candidacy was announced - there's a good reason that the show feels predictive of partisan politics. Namely, the show has had its fair share of actual political consultants - including, as Fox News reported, Vice President Joe Biden himself.
Louis-Dreyfus has noted that she's "had many opportunities to hang out with Joe Biden," and that the real-life Veep was "very forthcoming about the position."
