While attending the SXSW festival, the very private Kerry Washington addressed those recent rumors that she and hubby Nnamdi Asomugha are divorcing.
People noted that during the "New Rules of Social Stardom" chat at the festival in Austin, Texas, Washington very subtly addressed the rumors by saying she doesn’t feel the need to deny them since she never comments on her personal life.
"Social media has actually been great for [other celebrities'] relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites because people say things and they say, 'That’s not true! Just so you know, that’s BS!' So I'm thinking in some ways, it’s been great because people are able to maintain their voice," the 39-year-old actress explained.
But for her personally, "I don't talk about my personal life,” she said. "That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what's going on in my marriage, I don't refute them, because I don't talk about my personal life."
Washington is referring to her secret marriage to the former NFL player back in June 2013.
The Scandal star and Asomugha also have a daughter who is 22 months and while Washington gets the urge to sometimes share pictures of her via social media, she resists because she wants her daughter to make her own decisions about what to share when she’s older.
