This week on Lucifer, Lucifer brings Dr. Linda in to help him and Chloe solve the case of a murdered therapist.
Lucifer holds a re-birthday party for himself at Lux. Chloe shows up with Dan. They do one shot with him, but then have a work function they need to attend.
Chloe and Dan go to the police bar, Paddock, for Malcom’s welcome back party. Malcom acts like he’s confronting Chloe, but turns it into a joke. Paolucci toasts to his partner that will not die.
Lucifer apologizes to Dr. Linda for punching her wall during his last session. She tells him that his last session was a breakthrough – he’s letting his emotions through. She asks him what he’s feeling and he says he’s uncomfortable when Chloe is with Dan. Linda tells him he’s jealous. He disagrees.
Lucifer arrives at Chloe’s crime scene. Therapist Bernie Shaw has been murdered in what looks like a crime of passion. Dr. Shaw encouraged couples to cheat to save their marriages.
Shaw’s wife asks Chloe who would’ve killed him. Chloe tells Lucifer that all of Shaw’s patients are suspects. Lucifer wants to dive into the private files, but Chloe says they need a psychologist to do it per confidentiality rules. Lucifer wants Linda to do it, but Chloe says no. She says the psychologist needs to be court appointed. Lucifer uses sex to get the judge to appoint Linda.
Linda tells Lucifer he can only read the files she deems important to the case. Lucifer notices the name plate on the neighboring office is biblical. Linda tells Chloe that she found a patient, Rick, who sent Shaw a death threat a year ago after his wife left him for another man.
On the way to Rick’s home, Linda calls to tell Chloe that he may be unstable and dangerous to himself. Chloe sees Rick on the roof ready to jump. Lucifer joins him and questions him about jealousy. He asks why he killed Shaw, but Rick says Shaw got him through his divorce. He didn’t kill him. Rick decides not to jump.
Rick tells Chloe that he ran into Shaw’s wife, Sandy, two days ago. She didn’t want her husband to know that she was back in town because she had a surprise for him.
Linda goes to Lux and meets Maze. Linda calls Maze out on being rude. Maze likes her. Lucifer and Chloe tell Linda about Sandy being a suspect. Linda says someone by Sandy’s initials was in her husband’s notes as stalking one of his patients.
Chloe gets a call from dispatch saying Dan lost his phone, but will meet her at her house to talk. When she gets there, she finds Malcolm instead. He’s unarmed. He says she saw him paying off an informant to find a dirty cop before he got shot. He can’t figure out how the dirty officer knew he was there. He asks how she found him, but she won’t tell him. He says he isn’t going to dig any deeper on the Palmetto case and tells her not to either.
Chloe gets a call that Sandy is in her car at a parking structure. Chloe takes Lucifer and Linda with her to interrogate Sandy. Turns out Sandy was going to throw horse poop at the woman her husband was sleeping with, Tiffany. She says Dr. Medina called to see if Shaw wanted to go out for a drink, but Shaw had already told her he was out with him. She realized he was cheating. She’s upset because Shaw fell in love with Tiffany.
Dan arrives and asks Chloe if Malcolm hurt her. He threatens to punch him. He tells Chloe he couldn’t get any prints off the key they found in the Palmetto basement.
Chloe has Sandy arrested because she has no alibi for her husband’s murder, but she doesn’t think she did it. She talks to Linda about Lucifer’s recent emotional growth. They each think each other had a hand in it. Linda admits that she’s sleeping with him, but says she’s going to quit.
Linda asks Chloe why Shaw didn’t tell Medina that he was using him as a cover story. Chloe realizes maybe he did and Medina wanted Sandy to know that Shaw was cheating.
Lucifer goes to the group therapy session being held by Dr. Medina for Shaw’s grieving patients. Lucifer decides to use Medina as a case study in jealousy, making him tell him his darkest desire. Medina admits that he wants Sandy, but she didn’t want him. Medina attacks Lucifer with a knife saying that even when he told Sandy that Shaw was cheating, she still only loved her husband. Lucifer thinks his situation with Chloe is different. Chloe arrives and arrests Medina.
Chloe tells Lucifer about Malcolm approaching her. She says the dirty cop could have found him by using his partner’s GPS locator like she did. She realizes that Paolucci knew he was there. Chloe follows Paolucci’s tracker to Paddock. The place is dark, but unlocked. They find Paolucci dead with a suicide note stating he was on the take. He shot Malcolm, but couldn’t take the guilt when he revived.
Linda calls Lucifer to her office. He thinks it’s for sex, but she tells him that she wants their relationship to remain professional from then on. Lucifer asks her about the description of the doctor next door and knows that it’s Amenadiel.
Dan puts Trixie to bed. Chloe thanks him for having her back. They kiss. He gets a text that upsets him and leaves.
Dan’s text was from Malcolm. He congratulates Dan on closing Palmetto. Dan accuses Malcolm of writing the suicide note and he admits to it. He says Dan should thank him for not telling the truth – that Dan shot him. He threatens Dan’s family unless he works with him.
Lucifer accuses Maze of working with Amenadiel behind his back. He tells her they’re done.
