On this week’s episode, Lucifer deals with daddy issues when Chloe suspects a prominent restaurateur’s son of playing a part in his father’s death.
Lucifer hits on a supermarket stock girl, but is turned off when she calls for God. Chloe reminds him of the crime scene.
Famous chef Javier has died with no sign of injury or struggle. His time of death reveals he was poisoned during breakfast at his restaurant 90 minutes before.
The police round up everyone who works at the restaurant. They all see Javier as a father figure, affectionately calling him Pops. Lucifer says he understands what it’s like to want to escape a difficult father and Chloe tells him not to project.
Chloe’s mother appears at the crime scene and Lucifer is starstruck. She invites Chloe and him to a family dinner that night.
Chloe interviews the restaurant workers, but no one will speak ill of Pops. Chloe interviews Javier’s actual son. They were estranged, but he came back to town to make up. They had breakfast together and were supposed to meet up later in the day. Chloe discovers he won’t inherit the restaurant.
Maze goes to Linda for therapy. She gets upset when Linda suggests she make some friends.
Malcolm tells Dan he’s going to kill Lucifer, but Dan threatens to stop him.
Chloe interviews Anne, who is set to inherit the restaurant. She says she would never hurt Pops. Chloe gets the toxin results, which say Pops was killed with mercury and heroin. Chloe asks to see Anne’s arms. Suddenly Anne throws up blood and collapses.
Lucifer is convinced Junior poisoned his father and Anne to get his hands on the restaurant. Dan gives Chloe the file of Naomi, a former hostess fired from the restaurant who’s been arrested for heroin use. She was seen arguing with Javier and Anne two days prior. Chloe invites Dan to her mother’s for dinner.
Chloe gets no answer when she rings Naomi’s doorbell. Lucifer breaks in and digs through a bag, finding Junior’s belongings. Chloe finds a bag of heroin. She tells Lucifer that her mother is a child who makes everything about herself, having dragged Chloe to auditions.
Naomi comes home. Chloe asks about her fight with Javier. She wanted to make peace with Pops because she was seeing Junior. She wasn’t at breakfast. Junior went alone.
Chloe gets a phone call. She tells Lucifer it’s an emergency and leaves him behind. She comes home to find Penelope dolling Trixie up to use as a prop at her audition. The babysitter called to warn Chloe. Trixie runs away while Chloe and Penelope argue. Chloe’s phone buzzes. Trixie ordered a ride from her Uber account.
Trixie shows up at Lux's looking for Lucifer, but he isn’t there. Maze talks with her while she waits. Chloe runs in and thanks Maze for watching out for her.
Junior sneaks into Naomi’s apartment, but Lucifer is waiting for him. Junior came to retrieve a knife his father gave him. Lucifer sees in his sentimentality that he didn’t kill his father.
Chloe and Trixie arrive home at the same time Dan gets there for dinner. Lucifer brings Junior to cook for the family. Dan sends Trixie to her room with cake. Chloe tells her mother not to eat the dinner, since it might be poisoned.
Lucifer tells Penelope that Chloe called her a child and Dan tells Lucifer he’s out of line. Lucifer says they must be close to getting back together. Chloe admits they kissed and Lucifer makes a comment about why she won’t sleep with him.
Junior says he and his father used to argue a lot, but Javier is a part of him. He came home to tell his father he was clean and wanted to be a chef again. Chloe tells him he needs to make a statement. Dan leaves to take him to the precinct. Penelope gets up from the table angry and Chloe yells at Lucifer for ruining dinner.
The lab calls and tells Chloe that Naomi’s heroin sample doesn’t match what killed Javier. Lucifer suggests heroin was used to frame Junior. Chloe says the only person with motive was also poisoned. Lucifer suggests Anne may have poisoned herself enough to kill suspicion. Chloe thinks Pops was going to give the restaurant to Junior after all. She calls the hospital, but Anne checked out against orders an hour ago.
Lucifer and Chloe find Anne at the restaurant, destroying evidence. She didn’t mean to kill Javier; she was trying to kill Junior. Javier ate the food meant for Junior, since Junior stopped eating meat during his travels. Anne sets the kitchen on fire and escapes. Lucifer covers Chloe in his coat and carries her out of the building, burning himself in the process. Chloe manages to recover the heroin Anne was trying to destroy. Anne is arrested a few blocks away.
Chloe tells Junior his dad was going to leave him the restaurant. He says he’ll rebuild it and make it his own.
Maze tells Linda she made friends with Trixie. She asks Linda out for drinks.
Chloe comes home and makes peace with her mother. Penelope tells her to take a leap.
Dan tries to arrest Malcolm, but Malcolm overpowers and strangles him. Malcolm sends a breakup text to Chloe from Dan’s phone.
Chloe shows up drunk to Lucifer’s flat and throws herself at him. He refuses to take advantage of her. She falls asleep on his couch.
