Lupita Nyong'o took fans behind the scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a new video.

Posted on March 21 to Nyong'o's Facebook page, the video showed the elaborate CGI creation of her character, Maz Kanata, including footage of Nyong'o in full tech motion capture regalia, as well as input from Visual Effects Supervisor Ben Morris, Video Effects Supervisor Roger Guyett and Director J.J. Abrams.

"Lupita could actually perform as a normal human," said Morris, "which certainly released her, and we could actually composite that as she was performing on the motion capture stage in real time."

"Somebody said to me, 'What's the magic?'" added Guyett, "And to me the magic is, when we were doing Mars, you saw Lupita just make that character come to life."

The video acted as a promotion for, and will be included on, the DVD of The Force Awakens, which will be released in Digital HD on April 1 and on Blu-Ray on April 5.

The 33-year-old Oscar winner has been busy, since, as we previously reported, she is currently starring in the play Eclipsed on Broadway, which was recently named a New York Times Critics' Pick.
