A couple of weeks after the rumors surfaced, Marvel officially confirmed that Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones will play Iron Fist.

Jones was first linked to the role on Feb. 25. Marvel waited until today to make the casting official.

“Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means,” executive producer Scott Buck said in a statement. “Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.”

Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb called Jones the “perfect choice” for the role, adding that he “wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability.”

With this casting, Marvel has finally found all four members of the Defenders mini-series. The 13-episode Iron Fist series will be the last Netflix solo series before Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist work together as the Defenders in a fifth series.

Daredevil is played by Charlie Cox, who will be back in his red suit on March 18. Krysten Ritter plays Jessica Jones and Mike Coulter has already debuted as Luke Cage in Jessica Jones. Luke Cage’s series is currently in production.

Jones stars as Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones and has also appeared in the U.K. show Hollyoaks.
