Spike Jonze doesn’t have any immediate plans for a follow-up to 2013’s Oscar winner Her, but the filmmaker’s new opening for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will have to suffice.

In the completely wordless short, Colbert is seen wandering the streets of New York, where he is sadly ignored by everyone he meets. Eventually though, he meets Grover from Sesame Street and the two have conversations until they reach the Late Show studio. Thanks to Grover, Colbert now has the courage to go into the studio.

At least he met the real Grover. Who knows how this would have ended if he met a Times Square Grover mascot.

Jonze is working as creative director for Vice’s Viceland network, which launched today. The director is best known for Where The Wild Things Are, Adaptation. and Being John Malkovich. He won the 2013 Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Her.
