Comedy legend Steve Martin appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but didn’t really want to. He even sang a song about not wanting to be on the show while being on the show.
When Fallon introduced Martin, he didn’t come out. It turns out that he was singing in his dressing room about hating late night interviews because he doesn’t care about Fallon’s wife and kids. He ran into a staffer in the corridor, though, and she reminded him that he does have a new Broadway show to talk about, so he got excited and stopped stalling.
Martin stars in Bright Star, which is now in previews and co-stars Edie Brickell. This may have been why Martin was available to do his first stand-up show for the first time in 35 years by opening for Jerry Seinfeld.
