Following last week’s tribal council…
Who could forget the time Jennifer blew up her game because she couldn’t keep quiet? As a result, Alecia escaped elimination – again – and returned to camp believing her only ally was Cydney against Scot and Kyle. Unfortunately for her, Cydney didn’t see things that way. However, if both boys and Alecia trusted her, then it couldn’t hurt her game.
Speaking of which, Scot told Alecia that the only reason he didn’t vote to keep her in the last tribal council was because he was a loyal guy and had promised not to write Jennifer’s name down. Alecia found this reasoning silly and tried to convince Kyle and Cydney that they should vote out Scot next since he’s a former basketball player and likely a millionaire already.
We belong together…
Last week, Tai found a clue to the hidden immunity idol, but needed a way to get it out of the tree. Unfortunately, he misplaced the tool that he was going to use. No worries though - he macgyvered another one on the spot and pushed the canister out of the tree. Inside was the key and a map to the lock. After the most involved idol search in Survivor history, we learned that if two idols are combined this season, they form a Super Idol that can be played AFTER the votes are read, not before as is usually the case. Overjoyed, Tai exclaimed, “the idol and I belong together!”
Gathering intel…
Over at the Brains camp, Liz and Peter deliberated over who to get rid of if they lost the challenge. They decided that the older folks, Joe and Debbie, as well as Aubry weren’t all that brilliant, and therefore didn’t pose much of a threat. Neal on the other hand was considered to be a smart player, and as such, they needed to eliminate him before he could try anything underhanded.
Debbie saw right through their strategizing and set the wheels in motion to break them up. According to her, her role in the game is to sit back, shut up, and gather intel, and then find a way to get others to agree with her.
Cutthroat beauties…
Back over on the Beauty tribe, Tai mourned the death of the tribe’s chicken which made for quite a filling dinner. Although he understood that it was “the circle of life” and essential for keeping up team endurance, he still became pretty emotional.
Someone lacking in that department is Nick, a self-proclaimed cold-hearted person who’s also rubbing the girls the wrong way. They approached Caleb and asked if he’d be on board with getting rid of Nick should the time come. Not that he had much choice given that the girls are in a solid alliance, so of course he didn’t turn them down.
The race for the idol…
Kyle’s experience as a bounty hunter came in handy after he saw Alecia and Cydney digging for one in the woods. Alecia came across the clue first, but invited Cydney to help her. Unlike Tai’s scavenger hunt, it seems the girls found the last clue because while digging, Cydney found the locked chest. She didn’t tell Alecia anything about it. Instead, she went back to camp to tell Kyle since coming clean put her in a better spot than pretending she didn’t know anything about it.
With only this snippet of information, Kyle took off like a bat out of hell, located the first clue and found the canister up in the tree. With Scot’s help, he wrestled it away from Alecia who was waiting under the tree to snatch it. Then he and Scot opened the lock and learned about the new Super Idol.
This week’s immunity challenge…
This week’s competition was a classic thriller. All three teams were neck and neck throughout the early part of the challenge, but then the Beauty tribe took the lead and finished first. They opted for the comfort reward – pillows, blankets, etc. Mere seconds separated Brains from Brawn, but that was enough to give Brawn their first victory. They were completely ecstatic because it was “about time something worked for [them].” They also received their emotional items from home.
I’m confident this will work…
Peter and Liz didn’t scramble before tribal council because they believed they were the smartest duo of the tribe and could manipulate the votes to eliminate Neal. But when Debbie told Neal what was in store for him, he vowed that Liz and Peter would pay. Debbi was determined to get rid of Liz, but Aubry thought Peter should go home instead because of his arrogant and condescending manner.
Peter and Liz walked into tribal absolutely sure everyone was going to follow the plan and even laid out what was going to happen for Jeff Probst. Debbie stated that for the Brains tribe the decision was purely analytical, but Aubry reminded everyone that subtleties were just as crucial to the game. That’s when Peter flashed his pearly whites and assured Probst that social interactions are his specialty as an ER doctor. This made it all the more funny when he and Liz received two votes each. A re-vote afterwards sent a stunned Liz home.
