Tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds said goodbye to a beloved character that has been with us for eleven years. As one of the leading members of the BAU, Derek Morgan has been a pillar of strength for his team and the one who would always break down the doors when finding the bad guys.
In this episode, Morgan’s wife, Savannah, was shot by an unsub out for revenge against Morgan. As the team and Morgan wait by her side as she fights for her life, they look into the connection between their unsub and Giuseppe Montolo, the hit man Morgan had arrested earlier in the season before he was poisoned.
This was a heart wrenching and beautiful episode that brought back memories of when Agent Hotchner’s own family was in danger at the hands of George Foyet. We saw touching scenes between the characters as they broke rules and stood by Morgan in his time of need. In an interview with TVGuide, actor Shemar Moore said it was likely we would not see the last of Morgan.
