Padma Lakshmi opened up about her personal life while promoting her memoir Love, Loss And What We Ate in a new interview, admitting two men took paternity tests to find out who the father of her daughter was when she found out she was pregnant.
Lakshmi was surprised to find out she was pregnant in 2009 since she was told she couldn’t have children after being diagnosed with endometriosis. She was also confused at who the father could be, since she was openly dating two men - Teddy Forstmann and Adam Dell. The latter ended up being the father.
“I was shocked and elated,” she told People of finding out she was pregnant with daughter Krishna. “And then I was like ‘Hold on, wait a minute.’"
She also said when Frostmann found out, “I saw his face go white, then beet red. It was as if the room could not contain him, or as if his body could not contain his fury at the information he had just received.”
The Top Chef host also said he offered to raise her daughter but she declined. Despite the situation they were in, he stayed with her for a while after that.
“The fact that it was public was excruciating because it’s a very private matter but that was nothing compared to how I had hurt Teddy,” she admitted.
