Whitney Port is standing by the fact that The Hills was “unwritten.”
According to Us Weekly, Port responded to Kristin Cavallari’s claims that their hit MTV reality show was manipulated by producers at Daily Front Row's Fashion Los Angeles Awards on March 20.
"I wouldn’t put it as staged,” Port said. "Sometimes we had to make some situations more dramatic for the sake of making an entertaining TV show. But it’s not like we were ever given scripts."
Port, who was a main cast member on The Hills until she got her own spinoff show, The City, was never actually on the show at the same with as Cavallari. Cavallari took the lead role after former nemesis Lauren Conrad left during season five.
This is not the first time Cavallari has revealed her time on reality TV was not what it seemed to be. The mom of three opened up about Laguna Beach in her new memoir, Balancing In Heels, and how the producers controlled her infamous love triangle with Stephen Colletti and Conrad.
“[The producers] controlled and mapped our lives more than we were aware,” she wrote. “It certainly provided some juicy conflicts, but it also affected me deeply.”
Cavallari married NFL quarterback Jay Cutler in 2013, while Port walked down the aisle late last year. Both ladies have traded in their careers in reality TV for a career in fashion.
