WWE just announced the location of WrestleMania 33 and it will be in the Sunshine State.
According to WWE.com, in a press conference today, local dignitaries, superstars, Divas and WWE all showed up for the announcement that WrestleManie will return to the Orlando Citrus Bowl for the first time since 2008.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said, “Everyone will enjoy the drama and the athleticism…but most importantly, you’ll leave with a big smile on your face.”
In 2008, over 74.000 people with the WWE Universe showed up for WrestleMania XXIV. Of next year’s event, a press release had a statement from Florida Gov. Rick Scott saying, “Florida set a tourism record by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015, and WWE will help bring even more visitors to Florida in 2017.”
He also expressed “excitement” over the decision to have Florida be the host of next year’s WrestleMania.
John Cena was at the press conference as well and said Orlando was the perfect setting for WWE because the city “welcomes people and makes the impossible possible, makes dreams reality.”
When WrestleMania 33 takes place, Orlando will also hold several events, including WrestleMania Axxess an interactive fan festival at the Orange County Convention Center and anti-bullying rallies.
Last year’s WrestleMania 32 took place in Dallas.
