The Chicago Bears re-signed tight end Zach Miller on Monday, March 14.
According to NFL.com, the deal is for two years and is worth $6 million. The deal has up to $2 million in incentives. Miller visited with the Los Angeles Rams on March 13 to see what his market value is. He wanted to stay with the Bears and didn’t want to look for the biggest pay day in the open market.
“I don’t know, man. I’ve been difference places,” Miller said after last season. “And there are times where people are like, ‘Aw, what’s it like over here?’ Well, the grass is not always greener on the other side. And I know the grass is green here. Yeah, money is green. You’re right. But you can always make money. I know this is an ascending organization, from ownership on down. It’s a special franchise, that’s owned by great people and it’s ran by great people. So I want to be here.”
Miller played for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2009 to 2011. He didn’t play at all in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Last year was his first year with the Bears. He had 34 receptions for 439 yards and five touchdowns, which were career-highs, last year, according to ESPN. He was tied for fourth among tight ends in touchdown receptions (five) and seventh in receiving yards (40).
The Bears re-signed tight end Rob Housler on March 14. They are also shopping tight end Martellus Bennett, who is under contract through 2016.
