Comedienne Amy Schumer loves the musical Hamilton and she even featured it in a parody on her show Inside Amy Schumer.
The Daily Beast reported that Schumer was inspired by the musical and used it for her show’s first full sketch that will air during the fourth season. New episodes are set to air beginning April 21 and to prepare, she got some advice from Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays Alexander Hamilton in the musical.
For the sketch, she asked Miranda to check out her own musical creation, a hip-hop style one that was about Betsy Ross. She even rapped for him in the cadence that is familiar to Hamilton fans from the musical’s opening number.
Unfortunately, Miranda did not appear to be impressed with her musical efforts.
Schumer spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her sister Kim Caramele, who plays Ross’ nemesis in the sketch, and admitted her sister was a much bigger fan of the musical than she was.
Caramele talked about Miranda’s appearance and how when he agreed to the show, she “thought he was kidding. He couldn’t have been nicer and more game.”
Schumer herself once tipped the bartenders who were working during a performance of Hamilton.
