If you haven’t seen the audition footage of Daisy Ridley for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then you are truly missing out.
In a video from BuzzFeed, director J.J. Abrams talked about their journey in finding the perfect actress to take on the role of Rey, who he described in the video as “vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified.”
He wanted to find someone unknown and in her audition footage, Ridley was seen acting out a torture scene.
Her audition was so powerful that she even had a tear streaming down her face. Abrams described his reaction and how he simply thought “Oh my God” and had her work the scene again.
The footage is available as part of the special features on the Force Awakens DVD, which was released April 1 on Digital HD and Blu-Ray April 5.
