Last week Lucifer left us on a vexing note – Chloe’s presence makes Lucifer physically vulnerable. This week we find out the Devil’s thoughts on the matter. Will he avoid Chloe to save his own life or is he so attached he’s willing to die for their friendship?

In a Satanic ritual, a woman is laid out as a sacrifice. The high priest stabs her through the heart. She’s carried to another room by her boyfriend, who wakes her. It was a fake knife. He binds her tighter and says he’s going to make it hotter for the “real” Lucifer. He stands back and someone cruelly stabs her with a real blade.

Maze throws knives at Lucifer in a funny scene. He wants to know what else makes him vulnerable. She tries to trick him with a demon blade, which they both know can hurt him. Lucifer asks about his brother. She doesn’t think Amenadiel is weaponizing Chloe. Lucifer asks her to forcibly send Amenadiel back to Heaven.

Lucifer stubs his toe and we wonder why it hurts. Then Chloe shows up in his elevator. She asks why he’s been avoiding her. She needs him on the current case.

Lucifer is rude to Chloe and keeps a distance between them. A preacher calls Lucifer evil and we wonder how he knows his true identity.

Chloe shows Lucifer that “Hail Lucifer” has been carved onto the victim’s back. He’s sickened that the murder was blamed on him. The preacher breaks into the building and Malcolm drags him out. He hangs all over Lucifer like he’s the president of the Lucifer fan club.

Dan asks Chloe if they can talk, but she blows him off. Rose’s body has subdermal implants. Dan says he’ll find the place that did them. Chloe and Lucifer have to interview Rose’s father at her apartment. Lucifer acts cagey and tells her he’ll meet her there. He doesn’t want to be too close to her.

Chloe finds a secret staircase behind a bookshelf in Rose’s apartment. Upstairs is creepy; it’s filled with dead chicken parts and Satanic books. They find an inscription in a book for Corazon – Spanish for heart. Dan tells Chloe that Rose and Corazon went together to get her subdermal implants.

Malcolm unlocks his car and we jump when Amenadiel grabs him out of the shadows. Malcolm tells him Lucifer spilled the beans. Angels can’t kill humans. He ridiculously says unless Amenadiel has a better offer, he’s “#TeamLucifer.”

Chloe thinks Rose’s implants are letters, but she can’t figure out the sequence. Lucifer takes a look and sees “Filli Hircus,” which means "Children of the Goat" in Latin. Chloe finds their website and puts in the password, gaining an address. Lucifer once again travels without her. Chloe thinks Lucifer is uncomfortable because of their vulnerability conversation.

They knock on the door of the Satanist compound and it’s answered by a man in a black robe. We get a laugh when he tells Lucifer he was supposed to be blonde and asks for ID. Lucifer sends Chloe away and uses his devil stare to scare the man into letting them enter. For a Satanist, he’s easily frightened.

Chloe and Lucifer come upon the high priest holding a memorial for Rose. Lucifer is highly offended when a man in a tacky goat costume comes out supposedly as the Devil.

Lucifer storms into the room. They’re preposterous, cheering for him and telling him he’s the best Lucifer they’ve had in years. Chloe sees implants that match Rose’s on the high priest. He leaves the room and she follows. His name is Mitch and he’s become disillusioned with Satanism.

Mitch says all hardcore members get implants. Corazon brought Rose into the fold. If the fake knife were real, Chloe says it would match the marks on Rose’s body. We’re less than shocked when Mitch opens the real box to find it missing. Mitch gives Chloe Corazon’s information.

Chloe tells Lucifer that being afraid of everyone is silly because he’s immortal. He tells her angels can hurt other angels. We all hold our breath while he checks her back for wings. He doesn’t find any.

Amenadiel is upset that he failed in his mission and slept with a demon. Maze tries to convince him to go back to Heaven, but they fall into bed instead.

Chloe heads upstairs to take a shower and Lucifer wakes up Trixie. He asks if her mom has special powers or scars on her back. We laugh as she weasels cash out of him and then wince when Chloe catches Trixie telling the story of her butt scar.

Chloe sends Trixie back to bed. Lucifer asks Chloe to take her shirt off to see if she’s been sent to destroy him. She shows him her flawless back and says not everyone is out to get him.

In an inhuman move, the killer carved and strung Corazon up in the rafters of a warehouse. Chloe finds paint spelling out “Morningstar.” We’re angered when she takes Lucifer off the case because he might be involved. We all know Lucifer only punishes the wicked, not innocents pretending to be bad.

Lucifer goes to Linda. She tells him if he’s worried about his vulnerability, he should stay away from Chloe. He says he doesn’t want to.

We freeze as Maze pulls out a blade. Will she kill Amenadiel? He catches her, obviously betrayed. He leaves.

The preacher gets in Lucifer’s face on his way to Lux. He blames the murders on him. The preacher attacks him and Lucifer holds him against a pole by his neck. Malcolm stops him. They head for Lucifer’s apartment.

Chloe finds a cufflink at the latest murder scene. It’s an M. We’re angry when Dan suggests it belongs to Lucifer.

The video of Lucifer and the preacher goes viral. We’re relieved when Chloe notices the preacher is wearing a matching cufflink. It’s a W for Williams.

In a shocking turn of events, Malcolm admits that he killed the Satanists to get stay in Lucifer’s good graces. He’s completely crazy. He tells Lucifer they can pin it on the preacher. Lucifer threatens to punish him, but Amenadiel interrupts them.

Lucifer tells Amenadiel that the murders are his fault for letting Malcolm loose. Amenadiel is appalled and says it’s Lucifer’s fault for leaving Hell. They fight, destroying everything in sight. Lucifer accuses him of pitting Chloe against him. We’re left confused when Amenadiel denies any knowledge of Chloe’s effects. Maze stops them, upset that they both used her as a pawn. She leaves them knives and tells them to kill each other. Amenadiel leaves.

Chloe finds Lucifer pouring himself a drink at the bar. As he tries to explain his night, she’s distracted. We’re shocked when she finds the preacher dead on the floor and arrests Lucifer.
