Rap group N.W.A will be inducted into the 31st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 8, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Members of the once extremely popular group were Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella and Eazy-E, who died in 1995 of AIDS.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ice Cube expressed his appreciation for being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
"It means a lot of things. It means that the group's mark is kind of solidified. It's all legitimized in a way because the whole music industry has to honor the group in a way."
This year's other inductees include Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple and Steve Miller, reported LA Times.
The group has been nominated three times in the past; however, many people believe that the reason why N.W.A will be inducted this year is because of the popularity of Straight Outta Compton, a biographical film about the group and how they got their start to fame.
Even though the group will be inducted, according to Ice Cube in an interview with the New York Times, they will not be performing.
"Nah, we’re not performing. I guess we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on."
