Philadelphia Flyers fans showed their displeasure with the team's play by throwing wristbands onto the ice during Monday night’s game against the Washington Capitals.

Fans were given the wristbands before the game. Those wristbands were used in a pregame tribute to Flyers founder Ed Snider, who died last week after a two-year battle with cancer. After Flyers right wing Pierre-Edouard Bellemare was ejected for a hit on Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov, fans began throwing the wristbands onto the ice. Bellemare was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for the hit and the Flyers were given a bench minor for delay of game, according to ESPN. Bellemare could face discipline from the NHL.

“I know they made that announcement to the fans to tell them not to throw anything on the ice,” said Flyers right wing Wayne Simmonds, who pleaded with the fans to stop throwing the wristbands. "I know they're upset in that situation, but that can't happen. It’s just an unfortunate situation at the end there.”

The Capitals won the game 6-1 and lead the series 3-0. Game 4 is Wednesday in Philadelphia.
