It took a few months, but the cast of Straight Outta Compton finally got their revenge on the Academy Awards for not nominating the film in the Best Picture category.
Straight Outta Compton was only nominated for best original screenplay at what was dubbed the “all-white” Oscars this year, but it received three nods at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards including Movie of the Year.
The movie ended up winning for Best True Story and when the cast got up on stage to give their acceptance speech, they dissed the award show that snubbed the flick.
Stars O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Aldis Hodge, Neil Brown Jr. and original N.W.A. member DJ Yella accepted the award and then knocked the Oscars.
“I would just like to take a moment to thank the Academy — I mean MTV,” Mitchell said.
