With the television season winding down, many shows on the major networks still had uncertain futures and while some shows were renewed early, others had to wait close to their season finale dates.

The ABC, FOX and CBS networks announced the cancellation of major shows that had everyone talking. After it was announced actress Stana Katic would be leaving Castle, the show’s future was on the bubble and now it has been confirmed the series will end with its finale on May 16.

In addition to Castle, ABC also cancelled The Family, Marvel’s Agent Carter, The Muppets, Nashville and Galavant.

Deadline reported that in the case of Nashville, it is likely Lionsgate TV will attempt to shop around to other networks in order to keep the show on air for a fifth season.

As previously reported, the CBS show Supergirl was renewed, although it will move to the CW network and CBS decided to axe CSI: Cyber after two seasons.

FOX completely wiped out three of their comedy shows including The Grinder, Grandfathered and Bordertown. They also canceled Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Life.

In renewal news, ABC kept The Real ‘O’Neals, American Crime, The Catch and Dr. Ken.

CBS renewed ensemble comedy Life In Pieces.
