Michael Jace, the former Shield actor who was on trial for the 2014 murder of his wife, has been found guilty.
The Associated Press reported he was convicted of second-degree murder in the May 2014 death of April Jace, who was shot and killed after being shot in the back and the legs. Their two sons were witnesses in the death of their mother.
While he did not testify himself, Jace did tell detectives in a recorded interview he originally planned to commit suicide but then decided to shoot his wife. The couple’s 10-year-old son testified to hearing his father taunt her before the final shots.
The victim’s adult son, Savoy Brown, said the verdict handed down made the family feel pleased and he hoped when sentencing came that Jace would show more emotion.
He could face a sentence of 40 years to life in prison. His lawyer, Jamon Hicks, said Jace was full of remorse and he would likely speak at the sentencing while also being respectful of the victim’s family.
As previously reported, Jace had previously waived his rights to a preliminary hearing before the trial went forward.
Besides The Shield, Jace also had roles in Boogie Nights, Forrest Gump and CSI.
April Jace worked at Biola University as a financial aid counselor.
