“We aren’t bad people, but we did a bad thing.”

That was one of the first few lines of the show. It still stays true as we begin season 2. The Rayburn children are still feeling the effects from the major event that took place near the end of season 1. It had a major impact on them and they hoped after some time passed they could move on. Meg took a new job up in New York, Kevin got back together with his pregnant wife Belle and John considers running for sheriff. The final moments of season 1 witness a young man visiting John and telling him he is Danny’s son.

The new season picks up right where we left off. The Rayburn children are still feeling guilt over what they have done. John wants to talk with Nolan (Danny’s son) and find out more about him. John is going to have Nolan stay with him for the time being. John is going to try and track down Nolan’s mother.

Meg is living in New York and seems to be adjusting to new surroundings. Kevin has reconnected with his pregnant wife Belle and is having financial troubles at the marina. It also seems to me that Kevin is stricken with plenty of guilt over what they did, especially when he finds out that Danny had a son.

Wayne Lowery is also feeling the effects of Danny’s men as his entire crew is being interrogated and questioned. This can’t be good for Wayne. They are also trying to find Danny’s best friend Eric O’Bannon, who we find is laying low. We flashback and see that Danny saved Eric’s life that night at the hotel and that they knew John was outside. It looks like flashbacks will be a crucial part of this season, which is good news for everyone.

DEA agent Clay is meeting with John, Marco and Sheriff Aguirre and trying to find out why the Lowery case has stalled. Aguirre respects John but tells him that he will beat John if he runs for sheriff. We also find out that Marco is going to continue to dig on information about Danny’s murder. It looks like John is going to have plenty to do at home and at work.

The first time we visit the Rayburn House this season has everyone over for dinner (minus Meg) and it certainly is a bit uncomfortable. John updates the family that Lowery is the prime suspect in Danny’s murder. John talks with Sally and Sally seems to have little trust left in John. She is upset that she was left in the dark about what Danny did. It seems the Rayburn’s are going through some trust issues.

Meg’s issues continue as she and her boss Susannah entertain some new clients and Meg gets very drunk and continues to feel guilt. The next day Susannah tells Meg to take the weekend off. It is going to be eventful because Meg gets a call from the bank and finds out her father had a secret account and she later finds out that he had been sending $5,000 payments to a woman named Evangeline Radosevich. This is curious … who is this woman?

Marco continues to dig for information as he visits Kevin at the marina. He shows up the remains of the boat that they found near Danny’s body. Kevin seems nervous about the questions and I feel that Marco is picking up on that. Kevin calls John and John goes to calm down a very nervous and frazzled Kevin. John keeps reassuring them that they have to keep their stories straight and not to let this entire situation get derailed.

A search warrant at Lowery’s house currently doesn’t lead to anything. John also finds out that Nolan was in Miami the same time that Danny was. We know that Danny was sending Nolan money and that he saw Danny in Miami. It seems that we will find out more about this relationship as the season goes on.

Nolan is walking down the street (a scene very similar to Danny in season 1) and he eventually ends up in the woods and goes into a house where Eric O’Bannon is staying. I can’t say I’m surprised these two have a relationship. This will cause problems for the Rayburn family.

John gets a call from an unknown and goes to the marina and has a meeting with Lowery. Lowery tells him that he didn’t kill Danny and he wants the investigation to disappear. John refuses but now it seems he has no choice. Lowery plays a tape that has Danny’s voice where he is talking to John and tells him that he has told Lowery some things that could cause trouble for John.

The last scene of the episode is a shot of Danny, seeming pleased with what he has done. Danny might be dead, but the problems for the Rayburn family are just beginning…
