The summer blockbuster season has begun and Captain America: Civil War has the bar set extremely high. The latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought in $181.8 million, which is the fifth-largest opening weekend of all-time. It also recorded the third-largest opening for a film in the MCU, according to Box Office Mojo.

Disney held second place this weekend with The Jungle Book grossing $21.9 million bringing its total sum to just under $300 million.

Mother’s Day took third place this weekend and actually improved during its second weekend with $9 million.

The steady decline for The Huntsman: Winter’s War continues as it only recorded $3.6 million, which brought its total domestic gross to a disappointing $40.4 million.

Keanu rounded out the top five with $3.1 million.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice is closing in on the second highest domestic grossing movie of the year. It will most likely be short lived considering the monster opening weekend by Captain America: Civil War. It is expected that Marvel and Disney will lead the box office and will face competition at the end of May when X-Men: Apocalypse opens.
