Fox has released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of Wayward Pines.
In the footage, which Fox recently premiered on its YouTube account, we see a new character waking up in the mysterious town we now know so well. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) awakens from suspended animation to find himself in the middle of a rebellion against the First Generation. As we previously reported, the new season picks up in the immediate aftermath of the season 1 finale and joining Jason Patric are returning cast members Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino and Terrence Howard (despite the fact that Howard's character died last season).
Wayward Pines was originally intended to be an event series, but Fox decided to renew it after it became the No. 1 drama of the summer. Now, executive producer M. Night Shyamalan said he sees the story as consisting of three seasons and if this new outing is successful, he hopes they can wrap things up with a final chapter next year. The show has already adapted all three novels by Blake Crouch, so season 2 will consist of an all-new storyline.
The first season of Wayward Pines starred Matt Dillon, but he will not be returning in the upcoming episodes.
Wayward Pines will premiere on May 25.
