The Late Late Show viewers were treated to a mini-West Wing reunion last night, as James Corden aired a brilliant parody of the hit NBC series.
In the opening of the late night talk show, former co-stars Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford performed a classic West Wing "walk and talk" while discussing possible monologue jokes for James Corden. Soon enough, the whole thing turned into a giant meta joke in which they all discuss the idea of doing a West Wing parody, even though they are currently doing a West Wing parody.
Later in the episode, Janney and Whitford passionately kissed, thus acting out the plot of many West Wing fan fiction stories.
Corden himself is a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin's political drama series, as he has expressed on many previous episodes of The Late Late Show. Back in October, he had Bradley Whitford and Aaron Sorkin on the program and Corden had a bit of a nerd freakout when they gave him a gift bag full of West Wing merchandise.
This Late Late Show sketch is actually Allison Janney's second West Wing parody in the past week. A few days ago, she showed up at the daily White House press briefing in character as C.J. Gregg, according to CNN. She was at the White House to discuss the opioid epidemic, but she just couldn't resist paying tribute to her fictional White House persona while there.
