The last The Mindy Project followed Mindy as she goes on a blind date with an Indian guy (her first by the way). Her blind date, Neal, disses her by calling her a coconut, brown (Indian) on the outside and white on the inside. Mindy’s brother, Rishi, even confirms that they are coconuts. Mindy convinces Neal that she wants to hang out with him, just so she can learn how to be more Indian and embrace her culture.
Mindy hangs out with Neal’s friends Anita and Bernardo. She finds out that they are super hipster, cool and “dress like normal people.” After talking to Anita, Mindy decides to have Leo do the Hindu version of a baptism. The ceremony involves shaving the baby’s hair, which is associated with their past lives. The ceremony is a disaster, Leo cried and screamed when his head was getting shaved. However, they do manage to finish the ceremony and shave Leo’s head.
Once Danny got wind of the ceremony, he freaks out on Mindy. Mindy argues that Leo has the same right to learn about the Indian side of the family, since he has so far only experienced the Italian Catholic side of the family.
Meanwhile, Jodi is dating a woman, Ashley, who is saving herself for marriage. After bombarding her with emails, Ashley agrees to go on a date with Morgan. However, Morgan decides to sleep with Chelsea (when Morgan is babysitting Leo), to get his sexual frustrations out. Jodi forces Morgan to come clean with Ashley. Jodi wins this battle, and gets a second date with Ashley.
