In more television cancellation news, MTV has opted not to renew Faking It for a fourth season.
Actor Gregg Sulkin tweeted to fans saying “You have heard the news. Thanks for 3 incredible seasons. Couldn’t have done it without you guys. #FakingIt enjoyed every single second.”
Katie Stevens, who played Karma, also tweeted her appreciation to fans who supported the show. She called the show airing for three seasons “an achievement” and said they would be “grateful to the fans we’ve gained along the way.”
Showrunner Carter Covington told The Hollywood Reporter that the low ratings contributed to the decision for the show’s cancellation. He reportedly said that there did not appear to be any creative decisions in what happened and as far as he knew, “It was purely a numbers decision.”
He also said when he planned the finale for season three, he ended it so it could be seen as a series finale as well.
The show starred Rita Volk and Stevens as high school girls who were mistaken to be in a relationship and saw a rise in their popularity.
