On May 14, more television cancellation news hit with the announcement Debra Messing’s NBC program The Mysteries of Laura would not be getting a third season.
Messing played Laura Diamond, a detective in New York who did her best to balance both her home and work life.
Taking to Twitter, Messing wrote to her fans saying, “My dear Diamonds- our story has ended but it was a joyous story to tell. We are all so grateful to you for your love.”
Co-star Laz Alonso thanked the fans and said on Twitter, “Wednesday nights will never be the same!”
In other television news, one show that did not get the axe was Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing. He wrote on Twitter, “ABC wants a year six and we are all excited to make it happen.” Most of the network’s other long-running television programs have been cancelled.
Other shows are still on the bubble with no news on renewal or cancellation, including CBS programs The Odd Couple, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Limitless and Rush Hour. NBC has one show that is still on the bubble with The Carmichael Show.
The networks will begin presenting at the Upfronts this week.
