Last week on The Originals, the Mikaelson clan used Davina as a pawn in their war against Lucian, causing her demise. This week they try to stop Marcel from retaliating.
The Mikaelson family holds a wake for Cami while Vince and Marcel hold a funeral for Davina. Kol is too aggrieved to speak at Davina’s entombment. Marcel swears revenge.
We worry about Klaus in Cami’s absence. Detective Kinney has been compelled to forget Klaus but asks him how Cami died. Klaus says it was an accident.
Marcel puts a flower on Cami’s casket, then leaves immediately. Klaus wants to reach out to Marcel before his anger is turned loose.
Kol lets Freya have it for destroying Davina. She wants to channel Lucian’s oracle to discover more about the prophecy. Kol says he hopes it comes true.
Kinney asks Vince what happened to Cami. There are no records. Vince offers to explain everything.
Josh lectures Marcel about his plan to become a Mikaelson-killing monster. He says it’s an open declaration of war and he’ll have to take them all down. Josh asks him if Davina would have wanted that. We wonder that ourselves.
Marcel and Klaus argue about whether Davina had to die. Klaus tells Marcel he’s family, but Marcel denies it. Klaus asks him to come with him. What does he want to show him? Marcel packs the serum in his pocket before going out the door.
Freya has a vision of Marcel fulfilling the prophecy. She finds that the serum is no longer in Aurora’s body. She tells Elijah they need to warn Klaus.
Kol hears a music box go off and sees Davina’s reflection pass by the mirror. The doors shut around him and the mirror breaks. She attacks him, but in a moment, it all stops and the mirror is clear again.
Vince tells Kinney that the supernatural is real. He brings him to the house he used to share with Eva. Vince pulls out an artifact that Eva created to store negative energy. He says they’re going to use it to sever the ancestors’ connection to the living.
Klaus brings Marcel to the bridge their family crossed when they first brought Marcel home. Marcel scattered his father’s ashes there and threw his hate to the wind. Klaus knew then that he had potential as his son.
Klaus tells Marcel that he feared he would become his better. He hasn’t done well enough by Marcel. Elijah arrives at that moment.
A SWAT team busts into a building headed by Kinney. Vince is right behind him. Two witches are arrested, then Vince proceeds to take what they need for their spell.
Vince says there’s a tomb that embodies the link between the living and the dead. It’s the seat of the ancestors’ power. He’s going to use the artifact to cross over and crack the foundation. He asks Kinney to make sure all the graveyards are clear when it goes down.
Kinney asks how he’s going to get the artifact into the spirit world. Kol appears behind him and says Vince will have to die. He offers to help. He wants to reach out to Davina.
Elijah and Marcel argue about the serum. Klaus seems surprised to see it. Marcel asks why being his equal should change things. He complains that Klaus always has to be king. Elijah has a flashback to the prophecy.
Josh holds Vince and Kol’s bodies in the real world while they head for the hereafter. Kol and Vince cut their palms with a knife and Vince drinks Hemlock. They cross over and step out of their bodies.
Marcel blames Lucian’s betrayal on the Mikaelsons. He tries to drink the serum, but Klaus stops him. Marcel tells Klaus that he will become his worst enemy, but Elijah tears out his heart and drops him in the river. Klaus is devastated. Will he be able to forgive Elijah?
Vince sets the artifact in place, and Kol sees Davina. Davina tells Vince to leave and lead the witches. He wakes up.
Elijah says he had no choice in killing Marcel. Klaus leaves him.
Elijah comes home to Hayley in tears. Hayley holds him.
We tear up as Kol and Davina say their goodbyes. He wakes up crying. Davina sets off the artifact. The graveyard shakes and the tombs explode in fire. The plan worked!
Klaus is upset with Elijah. Hayley says Elijah has always forgiven him no matter what and he should do the same. Klaus says she sounds like Camille.
Vince thanks Kinney for his help. Kinney thanks Vince for trusting him with the truth.
Hayley tells Elijah he needs to forgive himself. He walks away, then turns and kisses her. We can feel the passion in that kiss.
Klaus tells Josh that Marcel is dead and walks off. Josh is convinced that Marcel’s death is his fault for talking him out of taking the serum. Vince tells Josh that Marcel took the serum in private and carried the empty bottle.
Marcel wakes at the bottom of the river. Will the prophecy be fulfilled after all?
