Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay wasn't kidding when he said that Andrew Luck was going to get paid. He announced the quarterback’s mega deal via Twitter on Wednesday.

Irsay first tweeted out that Luck signed an extension through 2021.

The Colts organization then tweeted about the deal on its Twitter page before Irsay took to the social media site again to exclaim that Luck is now officially the highest-paid football player in NFL history.

“This is an exciting day for the organization and Colts fans around the globe. Andrew is the consummate professional, possesses extraordinary talent and is our leader on and off the field,” Irsay said of the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. “When you consider what this team has accomplished in four seasons with Andrew under center, you cannot help but be thrilled about the future.”

There have been some slight differences in terms of all the exact details of the deal but as Irsay said, Luck will be banking $140 million over the next six years.

NFL Network reported that the signal caller will make $87 million in guarantees and $60 million in full guarantees by 2017.

So it’s a very good day to be Andrew Luck.
