Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was taken to a Phoenix hospital on Thursday where he was treated for a respiratory issue and is now listed in “fair condition.”
Family spokesman Bob Gunnell confirmed the news in a statement saying that Ali “is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition. A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy."
The boxing great had previously been hospitalized in January 2015 and was treated for an infection. TMZ noted that the last time the 74-year-old was seen out in public was in April.
Ali is widely considered the greatest boxer of all time having won 56 of his 61 total fights. He is a three-time heavyweight champion and retired from the sport in 1981.
