Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns has been suspended 30 days by WWE for violating their Wellness Policy.
WWE.com issued a statement Tuesday afternoon regarding the suspension.
"WWE has suspended Joe Anoa`i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy."
Reigns tweeted a message responding to his suspension.
Reigns was being pushed as the next face of the company and main evented Wrestlemania 31 and Wrestlemania 32. Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year's event in Dallas.
Reigns lost the title to Seth Rollins on Sunday at Money in the Bank. Rollins lost the title to Dean Ambrose in the same night. On Monday Night Raw last night, it was announced Reigns would be in next month's PPV Battleground main event in a triple threat match against Rollins and Ambrose for the championship. The main event is in question now. However Reigns' suspension ends before the July 24 event but without being featured on TV for the next month it will be hard to see him on the card.
This is Reign's first violation of the wellness policy. WWE has a three strike policy.
