The Amber Heard-domestic violence saga has continued with the actress’ former partner now saying Heard was wrongly accused of domestic violence against her.

Tasya van Ree’s name was in the headlines earlier this week when it was reported that Heard was arrested for domestic violence against her after the two had a fight in 2009. Well now, van Ree is coming to her ex’s defense and claiming that Heard was wrongly accused of domestic violence.

In a statement, van Ree called the incident at the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport in which Heard allegedly grabbed and hit her in the arm “over-sensationalized.”

“In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a power position,” she said. “It’s disheartening that Amber’s integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day.”

The state declined to file charges against Heard after she was arrested.

Late last month, the actress filed for divorce from Johnny Depp and claimed that he physically abused her.
