Following his rant one day ago on Bill Simmon's new talk show, Ben Affleck is speaking out about his tirade.
After Affleck went on the Deflategate rant , the actor/director/producer/writer followed up by defending his explicit words on Twitter.
Affleck was a guest on the first episode of the new HBO show Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, which aired on June 22. Simmons struck Affleck's Bostonian heart when he asked about Deflategate, leading Affleck to release the beast and give his honest thoughts about the controversy.
Deflategate or Ballghazi, whichever you prefer, was a controversy involving an allegation of tampered footballs by the New England Patriots two years ago. Per NFL rules, the offense uses their own footballs and an under-inflated football is easier to grip, throw and catch.
During the AFC championship game of the 2014 season between the Pats and the Indianapolis Colts, a ball thrown in the first half of the game by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and intercepted by Colts linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was handed to a Colts equipment manager. The equipment manager measured the ball's pressure and found it below the NFL's regulated measurements. At halftime, the rest of the Patriots' footballs were measured and 11 of 12 balls came under the regulated amount (some of which only a few ticks below measurement). Video footage exists of a worker employed by the Patriots walking into a restroom with 12 footballs and reemerging 98 seconds later to bring the balls to the field, according to NFL.com.
For his alleged involvement in the ordeal, Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season, got them back in September 2015, then got them taken away again for the 2016 season in April.
The Caped Crusader is pretty upset about that.
Last month, Brady appealed to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, but less than one percent of these appeals are granted, according to ESPN.com. If Brady gets rejected, he can appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court for reinstatement.
